Fletcher was in the Texas Brigade under Stonewall Jackson. He joined the Army of North Virginia in 1861 & served in the Texas Brigade until the Battle of Chickamauga. Unable to march because of wounds, he transferred to the cavalry & finished the war with the Texas Rangers
