The Laura note, and the fragment "Quid ergo ais finxisse", with "Valle locus clausa" follow the dedication Vol. 1. Canzoniere: 158 leaves. Reprinted from Gregorio's edition of 1508. It has a new frontispiece (1.3b) showing Petrarch seated at the base of a laurel tree, two volumes at his feet, while Apollo places the laurel crown on his head Vol. 2. Trionfi, with special t.p.:Triomphi di Meser Francesco Petrarcha con la loro optima spossitione [6], 184 leaves, with six woodcuts. The woodcuts are those of Gregorio's edition, in finer engraving and with borders. That of Fame is again misplaced, while Time is lacking altogether, Chastity being repeated on leaf 85b, at the beginning of the Triumph of Fame |
