In the 1920s, the town was a center of the Nazi movement; Jews were attacked in the streets, the cemetery was desecrated, and in 1930 a pig was thrown into the newly built synagogue. The Jewish community protested to the authorities and in the press. Describes violence against Jews in the Nazi period, the expulsion of Polish Jews in October 1938, the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, and the fate of individuals.
