| Item Description: | A rimed version of Vincent de Beauvais' Speculum historiale, divided by Maerlant into 4 parts. Pts. 1, 3, and nearly 18,000 verses of the 4th part are by Maerlant, the remainder of the 4th part by Lodewijk van Velthem. The 2d part, of which in 1863 only a few fragments were known, is by Philip Utenbroeke. The discovery by F. Heller von Hellwald of a manuscript (Vienna, Hofbibliothek, no. 13708) containing the entire 2d part, led to the publication of the 4th volume ("Tweede partie") 1879.
