|a The collection consists of records of Professor George F.F. Lombard documenting his activities as administrator, professor, and researcher at Harvard Business School. In this collection are correspondence, minutes, research materials, teaching materials, conference papers, articles, and administrative records. Teaching records include syllabi, course notes, class lists, and documents used as class presentation aids for courses such as Human Relations and Organizational Behavior. Research and writing records include material related to major books and publications such as Sons of the Machine and The Elusive Phenomena; research related to the Western Electric Company Hawthorne Works plant, General Motors, Middle East Oil Conference, and Illinois Bell, among other topics. The collection also includes correspondence and documentation from Lombard's collaboration with Fritz J. Roethlisberger

|a George F.F. Lombard was born in 1911. He received a BA from Harvard College (1933), and MBA (1935) and PhD in Commercial Science (1942) from Harvard Business School. Lombard started his professional career at HBS as Assistant Dean in 1936. He served in this position until 1940 when he joined the faculty as Instructor in Industrial Research. He became Associate Dean for Educational Programs in 1962 and was appointed Louis E. Kirstein Professor of Human Relations in 1965. Lombard became Senior Associate Dean for Educational Affairs in 1967 and Senior Associate Dean in 1974. He retired from HBS in 1977. Professor Lombard died in 2004
