|a One of six signed Gospels known to be illuminated by the 13th century Armenian artist, Ṛoslin Tʻoros. Codex 1956, was created at the scriptorium of the Cilician monastery at Hromklay (now in Turkey) in 1265 for Lady Keran, daughter of Constantine of Lampron. The artist displays a keen observation of nature, and a realistic rendering of figures, combined with imaginative decorative elements. Besides full and half-page biblical scenes in full color, Tʻoro illuminated the vellum sheets with marginalia and decorated initial letters
